History: Umeko was born to the ancient fox people, or kitsune, of Japan and was raised on the secluded island that the kitsune had long inhabited. There she was raised by her clan in the arts of Ninjitsu and lived what the elders of her community considered to be a prosperous life. She was even dating a fine youth favored by the Elders, the fox man known as Kenji.
Umeko's spirit could not be settled, however, and she left the island, retreating to Japan where she became the feared assassin for hire Ninjara, a name she would keep from that point on. It was on her many mercenary-like trades that Ninjara came across the cult leader Chien Khan who seduced her with his charisma and promises of returning Japan to its former Feudal honor. Under Khan's command she attacked the turtles as an enemy as Khan released the Warrior Dragon to reek havoc across the lands.
It did not take long, however, for Ninjara to finally open her eyes and see that Khan was amoral and deceitful and thus she joined her former enemies in order to stop Khan and his maddness. With his defeat, however, Ninjara found herself lost and jaded. Fortunately, she was in good company and the turtles and their master quickly took her in.
Here Ninjara found love with Raphael, finding his strong, feisty attitude attractive and challenging. Likewise, Raph found Ninjara challenging and in that challenge their romance blossomed. Soon the kitsune which had already left the only island she had ever known left the only culture she had ever known and began a world voyage with the turtles that eventually landed them in the turtle's home in New York. Here Ninjara found comfort in the freedom of her new family.
Trouble brewed when her brother, Naga, came to New York and randomly appeared in the turtles' home. He revealed that Ninjara had given him directions to the Lair which went against everything that had founded the turtles' and Splinter's trust in Ninjara. While most everyone eventually recovered under the circumstances (Naga came for help to rescue his and Ninjara's grandmother from a hunter) Raph could not so easily forget the betrayal and held it over Ninjara's head. They saved the grandmother, despite Naga's betrayal of them and the subsequent voyage through the Underworld, and Raph and Ninjara formed a truce. However, their relationship was beginning to deteriorate.
Suddenly, Ninajra found herself in the position where she could lose everything again.
Personality: Ninjara is hot tempered, snappish, and overly confident. She is good with a sword and she knows it, not being afraid to show her talents off by cutting down the nearest stranger. With the turtles, however, she is very warm, though it took her time to become comfortable enough with them. She is knowledgeable and respectable for Splinter and Leonardo, curious for Donatello, playful (though, admittedly rough) with Michelangelo, and teasingly seductive with Raphael. This does not keep her temper from flaring and exploding on any one of them, however. It is unlikely to get an apology from her and even more unlikely to get her to give up her stubbornness.
Strengths: She is much quicker than the average ninja, giving her the advantage of first to draw on most occasions. She strikes hard and fast, wasting little time on form or dynamics of an attack. It comes with years of mercenary work. She comes with wisdom past her years considering she is a fox and reasonably ages differently from humans. While stubborn, she's also loyal and confident in those she considers close enough to her to be family.
Weaknesses: Without a doubt, the fast draw method in combat comes with its serious repercussions. Ninjara is almost always vulnerable to a well placed counter attack. Her impulsiveness can also cause her to fall for pitfalls and traps that otherwise could have easily been avoided. Also, due to her natural make-up, Ninjara is more flexible than she is strong thus leading to that embarrassing syndrome where she can't move the couch on her own.
Appearance: An anthropomorphic fox, Ninjara's undeniably kitsune features are obvious but do not keep away from many beautiful assets she has. The murderous ambition and scowling face, however, do help cover it up. She dresses in several outfits though her most famous is her ninja armor equipped with tin shoulder pads and chain mail shirts.
